Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez is at its best when nobody is in a hurry.

A place for longer engagements

Saint-Tropez does not suit a sixty-minute appointment. The traffic alone forbids it. This is where weekends and forty-eight-hour escapes make sense: lunch at Pampelonne that dissolves into the afternoon, an hour of quiet before dinner, and a village that only becomes pleasant again after eleven at night.

Villas and privacy

Many of my engagements here take place in a private villa in the hills between Gassin and Ramatuelle rather than in a hotel, which suits both of us. I am an easy houseguest: I understand staff, I keep my own hours in the morning, and I do not photograph anything.

Season

From late May to early September the Gulf is fully booked, and so am I — a private weekend or a week is arranged well in advance, usually with a gentleman I have already met. September and early October are, in my opinion, the finest weeks of the year here, and the easiest to arrange.
